She argues that with one in ten working-age adults on sickness or disability benefits and costs set to exceed £100 billion a year, Britain cannot afford a system that encourages long-term dependency, particularly as mental-health-related claims among young people surge while support for those with severe physical disabilities risks being cut. Lana concludes that only a fundamental reset, distinguishing between those who need intensive support, those who need practical help to work, and those with minor conditions who need treatment rather than lifelong benefits, will restore sustainability and fairness.
